Bosses of the three acts
Each act ends with a champion. The launch campaign has three: Beastmaster Barka in Carthage, Goliath in Germania and Praefectus in Rome. Here is what is confirmed and how to prepare without spoiling the fight.
Act I — Beastmaster Barka
The Carthage champion rides in on a rhino. The demo built its climax around this fight, and the full release keeps him as the first act boss. The mounted charge is the defining threat: it covers distance quickly and punishes players who stand in a straight line.
General tactics: use pillars and arena geometry to break the charge lane, keep the chain ready to trip adds, and punish after the mount commits. Do not spend all your stamina chasing the boss while the arena fills with enemies.
Act II — Goliath
Germania's champion is built to test agility. The developers describe an unpredictable jump and ground-slam attack. The arena adds fire pillars and spike hazards, so the fight is as much about space as damage.
General tactics: watch the landing zone, keep moving, and avoid long attack animations while he is airborne. Save a dodge for the slam rather than spending it on a greedy follow-up. If a teammate is down, clear the area before the revive.
Act III — Praefectus
The final boss of the 1.0 campaign, backed by his Praetorian Guard. The developers call him their most formidable boss yet. He waits at the end of the Rome chapter, after Carthage and Germania.
General tactics: arrive with a finished build, not a pile of unspent coins. Deal with the guard before committing to the boss, keep potions for the second half, and do not burn the Surgeon's last procedure on a cosmetic problem.
Boss preparation checklist
- Weapon: a primary and a backup you can actually use.
- Armour: whatever keeps you alive through the adds phase.
- Coins: enough for one meaningful shop purchase, not just a snack.
- Afflictions: remove the one that breaks your role before the fight.
- Team plan: who trips, who blocks, who executes, who calls the retreat.
- Controller: charged and ready; same-screen co-op needs a gamepad on PC.
What this guide will not do
There is no official public boss map or frame-by-frame moveset. This page will not invent phase numbers or hidden weaknesses. If the developers publish a bestiary or patch notes that change a fight, this page will be updated and the verification date changed.
Build for the fight
Skills, coins, training and the Surgeon all feed the boss attempt.
